OVER £62K AWARDED IN COMMUNITY FUND’S LATEST ROUND OF GRANTS

The Caithness & North Sutherland Fund (CNSFund) has awarded over £62k in its latest round of grants, with four community groups benefiting from the NDA funded grant body.

Ormlie Community Association, a community development body, were granted £23,306 towards its Enhancing Employability Project, a support initiative to help individuals gain sustainable employment.  Ormlie Community Association Children Families Project Co-ordinator Claire Clark, welcomed news of the funding saying: “the monies we have received from CNSF complete a package of funding enabling us to provide an employability programme to individuals across our current projects with the long-term unemployed, young mums, vulnerable adults, and young adults looking to increase their employment chances.  It will enable us to provide additional training opportunities and help individuals better understand and gain the skills they need to secure sustainable employment locally or further afield.  We’re delighted the Caithness and North Sutherland Fund have recognised and supported the work we carry out, particularly as the fund itself reflects community support.  Equally we are grateful for the support we received from CNSF during the funding process and the ongoing support we will receive during the project itself.”

The other beneficiaries were; Reay Recreational Regeneration who were awarded £30k towards costs to refurbish the village of Reay’s play park with new play equipment and Thurso High School Parent Council who were granted £7,954 towards costs to purchase a new high school mini bus.  Caithness Canine Club also saw £1,524 granted toward costs to replace its old agility equipment with new modern equipment for its dog training classes, competitions and displays.

The CNSFund was established to distribute a £4M funding package provided by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) as a result of the low-level waste facility built near Dounreay.  Grants are distributed in line with the NDA’s socio economic policy and applications are assessed quarterly.  Closing dates for applications and how to apply can be found at www.cnsf.org.uk or by contacting CNSFund Coordinator David Shearer on enquiries@cnsf.org.uk  Tel: 07841 204 982.
